TUITION
One of the most enjoyable aspects of life in Liverpool’s busiest music school is that in addition to selling and fixing instruments, we get to be a part of our customers’ musical journey as they learn with us. Our teaching team has over 150 years of combined tuition experience and have successfully coached over 4,000 students ranging from absolute beginners to grade 8 and beyond!
Our approach to musical learning is simple: make it about the student! To this end, we don’t restrict ourselves to any one syllabus but rather, tailor each learning experience to the musician sat across from us and deliver the tuition that best suits that person. This may mean delivering lessons with varying levels of technical detail (subject to the individual’s learning style), or it may mean teaching musical concepts via a specific genre that the student gets the most enjoyment from. It often surprises people that most musical concepts are universal to multiple genres, so it’s possible to impart the same knowledge through the medium of e.g. jazz as we would were we teaching a student with an interest in heavy metal.
GRADES
As our students progress, many feel that they’d benefit from sitting graded exams. Oftentimes, the motivation for this is learning about the attractive tariff that UCAS offer for passing these exams, but at other times it’s simply an effective way of students marking their progress for their own sake. Regardless, grades can be a fantastic way of structuring a learning pathway – but we recognise that they’re not right for everyone. If grades are something you’d like to incorporate into your learning then we’re more than happy to structure you lessons to this effect. If you’d like to know more about the different exam boards that we work with, please feel free to ask a member of staff in the shop or by phone or get in touch with us using our contact form.
